Default your thoughts on the comptech 4-2-1 header

well, im either gonna go with JDM 4-1, or the comptech 4-2-1.
I heard excellent things about the comptech, plus it has nice midrange. What do you guys think?

thats what i have

its great for the money, the jdm will make more power, but it is not a simple bolt on piece

if i were to do it again, i would either get the JG edelbrock or the comptech, or even the new comptech when ever that piece comes out

I love it, works great for my setup and is amazing quality. The TIG welds look better than some of the Mugen stuff I've seen posted.

i LOVE mine -- absolutely amazing and beautiful, and made as much as the jdm's in the great header test...while gaining low and mid. awesome

As far as the comptech headers go, anyone have any thoughts on the difference between the MIG and TIG welded versions???

I heard that they basically make the same power, and they are equally as strong.

TIG
nicer, cleaner welds
polished finish

MIG
welds are a little sloppier looking
has a dull finish

You realize that test is meaningless for the most part, right?

the ITR on that test was all stock with SMSP cat and exhaust. Almost all the headers dyno'ed similar numbers. does that mean a $400 comptech is just as good as a $1300 toda header? no way. You need different headers for different cars. A stock car will do just fine with a basic dc sports/comptech header, but a heavily tuned engine is going to need one of the more exotic headers. there is no "one size fits all"

i would have to agree...theres always different factors that come into play..and using a stock ITR w/ smsp cat and exhaust as a baseline doesnt make up for the different factors between heavily vs. lightly modded applications.

well in that case...how does the dc tri-y compare to the comptech. I was gonna get a new header cuz mine bent...(chikara you get what you paid for). I'm on my stock exhaust mani right now and it sucks so that goes to prove all headers help alittle. well I gave up racing. I just want my mid to high end back. does anyone recomend the dc tri y?

As much as I agree, the car still has a high output motor comparatively speaking to sub 190-200whp cars. Its a damn better indication of how these headers will perform than "of course brand x makes a better product than brand y" type of mentality.

According to SCC, the DC 4-2-1 completely BLOWS away the comptech piece. :sarcasm:

j/k, but i have the DC 4-2-1 and honestly i couldn't tell the difference between my stock header. One good thing about it though is that it got rid of that 3000 RPM rattle that i've always been having

a little OT: who's that chick in your avatar? is that tila nguyen?

yeah thats her...i get that alot...haaha...so am I better off getting the comptech...I'm not looking for tons of power...but my car was alot faster in 98 when I had a homemade intake pipe chikara header and thermal muffler with pipping done at a local muffler shop...15.009 @93mph...I called it driving skills...j/k but now everything is stock excpet my JG TB and I'm gonn pick my ITR exhaust tomorrow. i want a header cuz my car chokes off at mid to high end...and I hate it...so will the dc do it for me?
