well u could run a split from your stock subwoofer..
and the stock sub has good bass for being stock..
otherwise id be to lazy to have to take my dash out just to install more subs, it just takes up more weight in the trunk neways

Use a line level converter... you can get one at best buy or circuit city for around 25$... and when you use the line level just tap off the factory sub wires for the signal and run RCA's from there, that way you can adjust the input level to the amp by controlling the sub off of the stock headunit.
and as far as the rest of the install goes... it kind of sucks good luck

i wase'nt sure if i could tap off the subs wires for the line level converter.. i have one from the last car i put this **** in for her..lol.. i'll have to find it and get it done so she'll stop going on about it..
thanks.
thanks.
i want to to this o my lx. sound system blows stock.
what you need to do i either get an amp with speaker level imputs , which is basically a line out converter built in and tap in the stock speaker wire. that will give you sound. you dont need rca cables if you have it built in. just regular speaker cables. guessing 14-18 gauge should do. if you go with the LOC you will need rca cables and just connect them. What also is needed is a remote wire, which powers up the amp when the key is turned or deck turned on. other wise the amp will work all the time which =
that about it.

the firewall on the new civics are rough as well, i can almost fit my arm up to my elbow inbetween the air filter and the top of the block and barely touch the firewall.. but to get a power line through just gently cut the rubber boot thats upper right to the gas pedal and remove the air filter top under the hood and you should be able to stick your hand back to the firewall (the boot is almost directly behind the airfilter maybe a little to the left) and push the wire through, and spray some windex on the wire, it helps lube for about 30 seconds then dries to a really sticky state so it will seal itself in the boot properly...
and also the good side of using a line level vs. a direct high level input from an amp, you get cleaner sound putting low end signal straight into the RCA inputs...
although it is usually personal preference, but whatev.

yea what JTaudio said! put the wire in thru the boot and run it down the driver side . its easy just pull the panels and rum the wire. I used a line level converter and it worked great for a wial , but my converter burned up not sure if the factory amp sent to much power thru the converter or it just shorted out . I got a new one and im going to try again. I am running a mono alpine amp to a single alpine S 12' and it sounds great with the factory radio and speaker . well ballanced sound thats not overpowering the stock system. besides I like to try to keep the wieght down.

Very nice set-up.
and also, if your gain is turned up too high on your amp, it can cause a line level to go bad because it tries to draw too much current off of the factory signal through the line level and will usually cause the line output converter to go bad... not to mention cause a lot of distortion in your sub.

Thats actually a very good point (if you remove the sub and put the grill back on it will actually make your subs louder and clearer because the hole will act as a small port thats directly inside your car)... and also I tried to put an infinity reference 8" in the factory subs place, and it sounded like crap $hit because not very many subs can actually run "free air"
but if anyone wants an infinity 8" reference series sub let me know
