Water in engine damage?
So, i was driving today in nyc, drove over a puddle. I underestimated how deep the puddle was, i drove over it at about 20mph and all of a sudden the front section of my hood smoke after I hit the puddle. It smoked for about 2 - 3 minutes.
The smoke did stop and I didn't feel anything afterwards driving.
Should I be worried about water damage to my engine?

as long as you didn't suck water from the intake into the combustion chambers you should be ok. the steam was probably jsut from the water touching your radiator and engine .....
if the motor was still running after that, you are probably ok....you'd know right away if you hydrolocked the motor, because the car would have died about 10 feet past that puddle you drove through.
at this point i'd just check for a cracked block - my neighbor growing up thought it would be a good idea to cool off his over-heating SR20DE by running the garden hose on it....Hot motor + cold water can sometimes = cracked block

Yea i drove it for about half a mile after that, Seemed to be okay, drove well. I lifted the hood, did not notice any real crazy wet spots, engine was preety dry. Hopefully the motor will still holds, it only has 59k on it.
Thanks dude
anymore ideas?

Soo, heres an update, I got up early this morning to drive, about 10 minutes into driving my check engine light lit up.
Its too coincidental, what can it be? The water did some damage but what?
