Car hit Vtec. Then throws code 8?
so here is the story. i was getting my car tuned and it was running fine, idle was good. everything seemed right.
when they did the first run vtec engaged ran for few seconds the the CEL came on. it threw a code 8
which is TDC. code 8 is a "emergency code" putting the ecu into limp mode.
after figuring out that its not really a TDC problem because everything is set right, we came up with that it must be a distributer problem.
we cleared the code and again everything seemed fine. idle was fine and no code came up. so we went for another run.
it hit vtec and kept going up for a second or two. then threw the code again. put the ecu in limp mode and shut off vtec at like 7k rmps
after a couple more times of trying to figure out what was going on. i ended up spinning a bearing.
MY QUESTION: could the fact that my vtec was shutting off spontaneously at a high rpm lead to this happening?
Edit: its a GSR block and a B16 head
