So i was looking at making some upgrades to my brakes...and was wondering if there were any downsides to using a setup like this

Additional unsprung weight and rotational mass would be the two main "downsides".

What is your current brake setup?

Stock (EJ8) disks up front and drum rears...i suppose with the added rotational mass along with my heavy *** 17's would create more stopping issues. Smaller wheels coming soon, so they might not fit any way. Crap ::bangs head:: too early i need to think things through.

I'd just do GSRs all around. Brakes meant for an Integra will stop a Civic no problem

Yeah, i was looking into going an "OEM" converison, still might go that route if i can find a good enough deal.

New pads and rotors are pretty expensive for aftermarket big brake kits. Who knew.

Another good point, "special" parts require "special" prices

one last thing to think about big brake system can take much longer to get up to operating temp and until they do stopping distance can increase.
