save your money and get some coaxes, put the good stuff up front. Why put more holes in your car than you have to

I agree. If you alreayd have the components I would deffinitly use them in the front. If you already have components in the front then you may as well use another pair in the rear....no harm there. As far as where to mount the tweeter I could not say exactly. Try to mount it as near to the midrange as possible though. This makes for better overall imaging.
The thing is there is no real benifit of components in the rear. The precision they offer over coaxials can only be appreciated from the front of a vehicle. The rear speakers should be more of a "fill" type sound in which it balances out the music but does not have the same presence as the fronts.
In the end it is what sound best to you. But this is what those who really know how to tune a system usually recommend for overall music quality.

i had real cheap access to my system peices,i used the 6.5 JL woofer in the rear with the 1 inch tweeter,i mounted the woofer in the stock location and mounted the tweeter right beside it under the grill, you cant see it,up front im using the 6 speaker set,1 inch tweeter,4 inch mid and 6.5 inch woofer,my sub is a 10 inch kenwood,im using a AG 650 6 channel amp with all built in crossovers,my headunit is a cva 1005 with the 510 dsp, sounds absolutley awesome, the dsp makes ll the difference in the world.the sub is mounted flush in the tire well, all the panels where removed, fiberglassed then vinyaled over with black vinyal.i did all the work myself over a one month period.
Testify! I bought a real good quality pair of coaxials and put them in my rear. They just provide fill, so there's no need to have components in the back.

I made templates of the stock 6x9 on a thin piece of particle board, cut out holes for the 4" mid and 1" tweeter, screwed them onto the template, and mounted this in the stock 6x9 location.
