A/c compressor broken? How to remove????? Urgent!
My friend has a problem with his turbo LS, but his user name is messing up so im posting for him... His car hasnt had A/C for a while, just never bothered to fix it...about a week ago it started working though.....until today, when it stopped again. He tried to start his car, and it started for a second, and made a loud squealing noise (like belts) and then stopped... Tried again, same thing. Tried starting it snd revving a little same thing only it started smoking (burnt rubber smoke/smell). So we waited a while, and started it, starts and runs fine, but A/C compressor makes a loud grinding.spinning noise. Ive been meaning to take out a/c anyway, i dont use it. so how do i do it? I know its like 6 bolts or something....and then i cut the belt, and what else?........what do i have to plug/flush/refill etc.? A tutorial would be great. Thanks
Make sure it's the compressor, not the idle pulley freezing up. I thought my compressor bearing was going out, but I found out it was the pulley.
