Timing belt for 99 ex -4
Didn't have time to search, but my wife just bought a 99 ex f23a4 with 140k on it and timing belt was never done. Just wanted to c if its a hit or miss motor, should I get it done asap or can I push it off for a couple of weeks. Don't want to take any chances she's in love, so just trying to be safe. Thanks Guys
if you can do it then don't wait.
if you need some info on how to do it, check out my write-up I did on a F22B1 (94-97 EX). That'll show you the main points of how to do it though the alignment marks might be slightly different.
The write-up can be found in the FAQ where a lot of other helpful links can be found.

It might be a couple of weeks before I get to it, I was just wondering if it is a interference engine. If it is I'll tell her not to drive it for now but it will break her hart.
Yah I told my wife, looks like my sunday is shot to ****. But all in all I won't have to do it for a long time. Thanks again. BTW were is a good list of interference and non interference motors I can keep on file?

I just changed my 99 4 cyl at 152k and bought her used with 41k. My buddy had a 94 EX (same engine) and ran it up to about 190k without ever changing the timing belt, and then ran his 99 4 cyl up to about 220k without ever changing it. And his typical shift point is about 6000 rpm, popping the clutch back hard on every shift.
I inspected my timing belt and it looked pristine. I'm no expert, but I couldn't spot a single crack, chip, etc. It looked just as good as the old one.
I'd say you're safe driving it another 10k if you had to.

FYI, a 94 EX and a 99 4cyl Accord do not have the same engine, similar but not the same.
Also, I've been told the signs of a timing belt going aren't going to show up until the belt is about to go.
Honda lists the change interval for a reason, stick to it
