what do you think is better...have a bet with a friend that a built and boosted d16 would be cheaper then swaping an all motor b16 or b18c ....
all motor doesn't mean "not turbo"
I would turbo a B if you want to go fast. With the B there is almost infinite potential. You can turbo the D if you want, but IMO it's a big *** waste of time.

Lets assume you're trying to build a quick street car, limited by 93octane and traction. There are multiple threads that prove a stock D16 head can do low 300's, which is at the point where street rubber cries. We already know the HT bandwagon doesn't give two ***** about properly matching the turbo to the motor BASED ON HP GOAL, so that throws out the argument that the smaller motor/worse head means you sacrafice spool time.
A fully built D16 bottom + HMT turbo kit (using good parts) = $2500 tops
A low-milage B16 w/trans + boltons = $2500 minimum
With the right turbo, you'll have more power than the B16, yet have a FAT toruqe curve and fast spool.
And I laughed at that first sentence, 'all motor doesn't mean no turbo'. Thats like saying you're a vegitarian, but eat pork. All motor means NO forced induction of any kind, Forced Induction means some sort of forced induction - turbo, sc, nos...

expletive that noise. Having a stock *** H/B/D/F/K does not mean you are "all motor". All motor means you are built NA with things like a fatty *** header, big *** cams, and high compression.
A ******* minivan isn't all-motor just because it has no turbo. Thanks for being a smartass though!
A D16 turbo will be faster than a B16 but a B-series has A LOT more potential.

go turbo d if you want to have a quick car, but youll want to build it after a few months. you will get used to it and want more hp. thats when youll say "dang, shoulda bought a b for more displacement"

So waht's the term for a stock, no-power-adder motor? Un-FI? Natrually-aspirated covers both stock and you're definition of all-motor, so that won't work either. Please inform me, I don't want to look like a 'square' at the next All-Motor Jubile in hicksville...
Having all those mods just means its a highly-moddified all-motor car. Having little to nothing means its a stock all-motor car. Just like a stock factory-turbo car is a stock forced-induction car, and a 1000whp monster supra is a moddified forced-induction car.

all depends on how much money you have, and how quick you wana be. you will get bored with a stock b16/18 in a couple off weeks. i got bored with my 220whp itr motor and am going to a built turbo d
Yeah, you will get tired of the power level you'll be at, especially if it 250-260 or under. I've been over 300 for about a week now, and am already wanting more. Time to get the b16 head to the machine shop and start prepping it for LS/VTEC turbo.

It's called ******* stock. Why does it have to be one or the other?
If you do a D-swap into a hatch, are you all motor?
