There's no need to set the gear judge unless you have the injector signal connected to the purple wire. If you have your tach signal connected to the purple wire you do not need to set it.
If you do have the injector wire connected then:
1) Go to the gear judge setting
2) Drive on 1st gear - N/S number will change each gear
3) Highlight 1st then go to NEXT that should set the value for that gear
3) Repeat the steps 2&3 for the rest of the gears.

LS, what r ur AVC-R settings for duty and start duty (if u don't mind my asking)? I'm curious because I'm always in a battle with my AVC-R to stop the erratic spikes.

Re: AVC-R gear judge settings (VTC_CiViC)
usually the AVCR will self learn your required boost levels...in the learn-gear setting, do u have circles or X's?...what is your F/B speed?...i have my set to 0.55 kg/cm2 with 38% duty...all circles in the learn-gear and all 5 for F/B speed...the AVCR self learned the duty cycles and i have higher duty cycles in the 4000-6000 rpm range

Re: AVC-R gear judge settings (Quaalude)
is it true that the F/B means that higher number means that the boost build up faster.i have in first- 3,sec.-3,third-5,fourth-6 and fivt-6.

Re: AVC-R gear judge settings (swissturbo)
i think higher F/B's are for quicker feedback speeds of the actuator valve....to build up faster boost u adjust the start duty cycle....i have 1st-5%, 2nd-3%, 3rd-5th-0%...u adjust the start duty cycle if say for instance first gear doesn't reach full boost

whiwh in my case i never hit full boost in 1st, so what should my duty cycle be.....i have F/B at all 0's across the board.

Re: AVC-R gear judge settings (98civicEX)
set learn gear setting to all circles...set F/B to 5 across the board and raise the start duty cycle to 5% in 1st and adjust it up or down until u get full boost in 1st...and adjust the other gears if they don't get full boost, in this case i raised 2nd to 3% and left 3-5 zero...this is start duty cycle not duty cycle...in the settings menu, start duty cycle is the last one

Re: AVC-R gear judge settings (Quaalude)
thanks bro!, i'll jump on that right now...ohh by the way, i'm running it 50% duty cycle.... but my preset boost is at .40 but when i check to see what my max boost peaks at it's at 0.67% am i running that much? if i'm understanding this right the that's almost 10psi, which is something i dont' want to be at...how can i adjust this?

So what if you have not connected that injector wire and have problems that need fixing using the start duty cycle?

make sure you verify your boost level with your EMS's map sensor. ive noticed that the AVCR tends to read a higher boost level than what the EMS reads.
