what do you think is better...have a bet with a friend that a built and boosted d16 would be cheaper then swaping an all motor b16 or b18c..what are your thoughts on this
Do the math: D-Series can go for very cheap, you can use all previous hardware, and with a junkyard homemade turbo slapped on with a tune will still be cheaper in my eyes than getting a gsr all-motor into your car. Anywho, that's my opinion on the matter, but this really isn't for this forum.
i would definately go with the boosted d. Thats what i am doing now. I look at it this way, i already have a d16 in my car, to buy a b16 or a b18 your looking at 2k+ to get it into your car and then your stuck with an n/a motor.
With the d-series, if you boost it, you can spend anywehre from 800-3k, i'm doing it for about 2.5k all good new parts. and when i'm done i'll be destroying stock b16's and b18's. And on top of that i'll have a turbo'd car
say next summer i want to build a d-series. I go out and buy a cheap d16z6 for like $300 or less. spend maybe $700-1k on parts. Have it cleaned, honed, and all that stuff that i still need to research. Maybe spend another 2-3k total. And i have the potential of having a 400+ hp motor.
stick the the d. buying anything else seems like a downgrade in my eyes.

you can find a b16a2 for around 500+ for the long block nowadays because no1 wants em
the only way i see a boosted d being cheaper than a b16a2 swap which can be done for around 1000
is by having already having a d that is in good shape plus a homemade/junkyard turbo setup
whoevers paying 2k+ for a b16 swap is a retard

i dont know much about engines/swaps that is the reason i said 2k+. I would have bought it off of hmotors online, no one around here is into hondas much. And then i would have to pay for installation.
Turboing my D is gunna pwn.

Wow, newb alert.
Screw a BUILT D16, a D16 on stock ints boosted the right way will dick whip a GSR or B16. BUILT, the boosted D16 will drop numbers higher than a GSR or B16 can ever hope to accomplish while still remaining practical.

d16s re really cheap....b4 i swapped i replaced my 1st d16y8 motor for 500 installed myself wit one other person helping 2 others when lifting and droppin it!!....but when I swapped I got a wrecked car to take its stock motor out and put in my car for about 1800 for the full car minus the interor stuff but got everthing under the hood...
So do what u can afford.
and a d16-t should beat a stock gsr or b16 lol....if not whats the point of doing it....built d16-t can hold around 28psi (correct if wrong)!!!

this seems like one of those threads where most people here are saying the exact same thing, except worded slightly differently. I agree with Syndacate, a boosted D on stock internals would probably be better all the way around. As far as being cheaper....maybe, maybe not, but there have been alot of discussions similar to this.
