that is actually part of thee o2 sensor. a heated o2 sensor is usually a 4 wire unit.
now if you only have a 1 wire o2 sensor that is a non heated unit and is heated up by the exhaust. hope that helps

Please give us the year of car and the year of the motor. It will help us help you.

Heated O2 sensors have either 4 or 5 wires. Usually OBDII.

All it does is heat the O2 sensors, so it will start to respond to the exhaust faster. This in-turn let's the ECU get into closed loop(Working off the sensors)faster. All to lower emissions sooner.

Should be in the exhaust somewhere. Some are in the Manifold or piping, some are on the cat.

You might have two also. One before the cat and one after it.

well i just figured this out the CEL42 only comes on when i have the p75(LS) ECU

and when I have the P06(single cam)ECU the CEL42 doesn't come on... should i worry about this.

you have a P75 with a one wire O2? you will have a CEL because you don't have an O2 heater.
a P06 should set the CEL also... is it chipped?

you need a four wire O2, or to chip the ECU and disable the O2 heater.
