92 civic overheating problems...
so ive done a little research and im still stumped. My car just recently started overheating (mostly on long trips and when ran hard). I topped off the radiator and resovar, didnt help. Changed out the thermostat and fan switch sensor, no help. I checked my oil to see if its a bad head gasket, and it doesent look like antifreeze is in the oil(i know a chemical test is the right way to check). The fan does turn on when the temp gauge gets half way, but it still gets very hot. Now the questions that i have are:
-does the secondary fan (ac fan) turn on with ac only or when the engine needs extra cooling?
-how would you bleed the system to make sure theres no air bubbles?
-any suggestions?
Thanks all the help i can get would be great!

The AC fan only turn on when the AC is on.
When I bleed my system, I warm up the car and squeeze the top radiator hose until there is no bubble coming out.

My words exactly.
The AC fan should only kick on w/ the AC.
As far as burping the system, just fill the rad up to the top w/ the cap off and run the car, squeeze the upper rad hose, leave it like that for a bit and it'll "burp" all the air out - but I don't think that's the problem, a little air in the system (even though it's supposed to be a sealed system) usually doesn't cause overheating like ur talking about.
If you just start the car and let it idle will it overheat? Or does this only happen when ur driving it?

Try removing the thermostat, see if that helps.
