i unscrewd all the bolts that are around the effin thing.. still i use some flat head screwdrivers and try to pry it open, but it looks like there is something inside thats holding it together. do u guys know what that is???

Did you take the big round cap out of the end and undo the c-clip? Is the shifter mechanism getting in the way?

Correct. The shifter assembly needs to come completely out, the c-clip needs to be removed from the countershaft bearing, the bolt for the reverse idler gear shaft needs to be removed, and the two spring loaded bolts with the ball bearings for the shift fork notches need to be removed.

Don't attempt a job like this without the factory manual.

BTW, if you change anything on the mainshaft, you'll need to reshim the mainshaft to get the end play in spec. If the end play is out of spec, you can frag the trans.

The trans is sealed with Hondabond, so it doesn't just fall apart once you get the bolts out. You have to pry it apart.

Chris, my wife has said that about my CC bills more than once. Hence my drastically reduced budget this year.

Ha! My wife is shopping for antique victorian/french reproduction couches and crap for our living room, along with hardwood floors for the living room and dining room. That Santos Mahogany looks awfully nice...

Best look/prices for the furniture is something like this.. http://www.marthahouse.com/pag...3.htm (oh, coincidentally, that's "our" hardwood floor look too)

(edit, bottom line is we're fighting over the same disposable income.. or our unborn kids are going to pay their own way for college... one or the other )

Eh, not so much. I spend more than my fair share on the car. It's just that we need to trim expenses some.
