JDM ek cluster problem
I dont know if this is the correct forum to post this on so mods feel free to move it. I got a jdm ek cluster for my 98 civic. Put it on and found out that the speedometer doesnt work. Everything else does work except for that. Is there any hope to fixing or do i need a part from japan that il never be able to get?
If it's broken ... then it's broken. I'd return it to whoever you purchased it from. You'd need new metering components from Japan, and you'd be better off sawing off your own foot than trying to get those.
Sadly thats what i figured, i bought it off ebay and the seller states "sold as is with no warranty" so i know im sol. Good thing i got it pretty cheap so im not losing much on it.
that's fuggin weak dude. did he claim it worked when he was selling it, or was he just like, "i don't know **** about this, so buy it and see if it works yourself, and if it doesn't, you are f#cked."
heres where i got it from:

Im thinking finding someone from japan to do something like that would take forever but i guess its worth a shot since the cluster is pretty much useless.

I did contact the seller but he wants me to ship the item back so he can ship a working cluster back. However he wants me to pay shipping both ways and that would come out to way more than what i originally paid for the cluster.
Can i still file a claim with paypal? Look where it says auction policy at the bottom where it states "no refunds or exchanges"
paypal has nothing to do with the seller.
he sent you an item significantly not as described, file a claim. paypal will look at the ebay auction and your statement saying the speedo didn't work and they will prob. give you your money back.

THis is the second time ive had ploblems with jdm clusters/people selling them i just cant seem to get a good working jdm cluster lol.
BlueIntegraBoy is my new hero!!!! lol so i was washing my car today and looked at my jdm cluster on my passanger seat making me mad due to the fact that it was not working. So then i remember what blue said and looked at the back of the cluster and noticed that a few of the screws were not tightned so i tightened them down real good and decided to give it one more chance (honestly i didnt think this would worked) hocked up everything started the car than put it in gear and drove slowly. Then out of nowhere the speedo needle starts to move!!!! I was like wtf??? I speed up and so did the speedo. After a few laps round the block the speedo works perfectly who knew that all it needed to work was to tightnened some screws? So thanks for the info blue. My question is how did you know thats what it needed to work??????

I have taken these clusters apart. If the screws aren't tight enough, there's no contact with the circuit film. Sometimes people remove the speedometer or any other gauge (for what reason, beats me) and they don't tighten the screws back well enough.
