I'm so excited 'n i'm not hiding it!!
I just passed the BRC course yesterday!!!! 100% on the written and only 6 points on the ridding test, stupid u-turn box! So do you guys have any really good tips for a new rider? Or any experienced riders in the area? I really want to get out and learn a lot this summer. I'm still working on getting my bike running but now that i have the motivation it should be quick.
Just get comfortable with everything on the bike, learn to brake quickly and effectively, negotiate turns, transfering the bikes weight back and forth. Once you have a decent base, enroll in a track school so you don't pick up bad habits. I've known riders that did track schools within a month of their licenses. If you're comfortable riding at decent speeds then you are probably ready for a track school.

Even with looking where i wanted to go, it was just too slow to make the manuver. either way those were the only points i missed so i dont really mind.
I'm only doing it the smart way. This course was the best $20 i've ever spent... hell i even donated a lil extra to them

IL MSF classes ftw
The class I was in had different material from the one I took two years ago. They were trying out different things, so there was no U-turn box for the class. Though I did miss points because the day before the test, we were doing the offset slalom (mostly in 2nd gear), and I figured I was used to doing the slalom in 2nd, but the distance from the start to the first cone was not enough to get into 2nd. Mind you, I was on a janky Suzy GZ250 (the shittiest bike in the group, quite literally), so maybe I could've pulled it off on another bike. But anyway.
Oh yeah... I just got my license a few days ago finally

Whoa, you guys got it ******* made there. MSF in Cali was like 70 if you're under 21 because the state subsidizes it for you since its mandatory, and like 200 if you're over 21. Those were the prices like 10 years ago, I wonder what its like now.
I took mine through NIU @ College Of Dupage, the instructors were friggin awesome. One of them was even giving out his number to students if they wanted someone to ride with. I was on a Honda Nighthawk for both days. The one i had on day one was a bitch... i couldnt get it into Neutral so i was holding the clutch all day (my forearm is still hurtin). on day two i had a different one that had a really touchy throttle... part of why i missed points on the U-turn box.
Has anyone taken the ERC (experienced rider course)?? how long did you wait to take it after getting your license??
