Default Help! Tranny removal a no-go - stuck on block.

'92 hatch w/ D16A6 mini-me swap coming out. we've pulled the engine and tranny together after trying just the engine by itself (obviously we found out too late that there's no room to do so...) The engine and transmission are now on the ground (still on the hoist) and it will NOT pull off. tried to disengage the clutch, but it's too far away to do anything (you can freely move the lever back and forth.) There's currently about .75" of seperation between the block and the bell housing and I can get you pics immediately if you need'em.

Plz help ASAP - it's 5 p.m. here and it gets dark @ 9...

Yes. You can see alllllll the way around this thing. we even removed the t-stat housing and the tranny will spin 360.

Put some muscle into it and itll come out. if it spins 360 around the motor it should drop because the spindle is out of the clutch.

Yeah I'm definitely staring at it like a monkey. it's some universal tool w/o splines from Napa and I'm definitely not understanding how to use it. It has multiple screw-on tips (I assume to put into the bearing in the flywheel) and then a handle that slides down over it . . . I'm def. confused b/c the whole assembly just moves around from the way I figured I'd use it?

Buy one made for your clutch and it will work like a charm. They are only like 6 bucks man. Never bothered with a universal before myself.
