Default crower cams

I got a chance to get a set of brand new crower cams still in the box for 200 canadian. I helped sell someones car and they said i can have the cams for 200 since i got it sold. Thats a saving of over 800 after shipping to my house. I just finished up reading that you barely gain any power with these cams. Is this true? Is it even worth my time putting them in? I plan to put new springs, retainers, and valves in along with the cam gears next year but should i scrap the cams, sell them, and buy some skunk2 cams? Does somebody want to buy some cams off me or trade there used pro2's for some brand new crowers?

Which motor ? which stage cams? turbo or all motor cams?

If i installed the cams, valves, springs, retainers, and cam gears would i be able to use a vafcII to tune it all. I know that the gears them selves are what tune the cams but will the vafcII be enough for air and fuel mixtures? I also have an sk2 70mm throttle body and manifold on the way. VafcII still good enough? I know hondata will get more ponies out of it but with a vafcII can i still run all this and make good gains?

definetly will work. u can only use hondata with obd1 setup. thats what i will be doing soon. i have a stock p-13 right now but already have the hondata s200 sitting on my desk right now. just waiting on putting my h22 in my 3rd gen lude. then search for a p72 ecu. forgot to mention 1 thing. u have to make sure that the p72 ecu u getting is already socketed. if not i think its like another 30 bucks or so.

yes you can use the vafc to tune it. The cam gears themselves do not tune the car. Crower has it setup so you get the most power leaving the cams at the stock position, so cam gears are actually pointless. Don't expect any great gains either, maybe 10whp if that.
I use to have this setup and i was very disappointed at the results.

hmmmm really? so i don't even need to waste money on cam gears? well this is odd to me, but still sweet at the same time. 10whp? that is good in my books. Isn't that what the gains are with the pro2's? I mean for 200 bucks 10whp is ******* awesome.
