HELP! tranny shifts but won't go into gear
I just changed my clutch, flywheel, pressure plate. It drove fine for about 30 or so miles...got home, and parked it. When I tried to leave a few hours later the car drove fine for about five minutes. Then when I came to a stop sign and put it into 1st I moved about 15 feet. It sounded like it popped out of first but was still in gear and the car didn't move. I can go into all the gears but it doesn't do anything as if I'm in neutral. Help...
1st thing to check is the axles like everyone else said. Did the shift-linkage get tight from side to side before it didn't move? I broke 2 shifter levers and that's how mine acted. So if the axles aren't it and the diff is fine which you can tell by taking the passenger side axle out... than you most likely broke your shifter lever also. It's a simple fix but it's a pain in the *** since you have to take the tranny out, take the case off, and replace the lever.
