Default rear springs question..

well my suspension setup is currently on tokico illuminas with some h&r sport springs.. i think the drop on the front is fine..however id like the rears to be a lower.. would you guys recommend cutting the springs?? i heard it worsens the ride.. or any other options i can look into.. instead of buying a new set of springs

You should never cut your springs... If you wanted more ride adjustablilty you should have gotten GC's or a coilover set up.

If you want to do it right, it is well worth the money to purchase coilovers. This way you can adjust your ride height without sacraficing your ride quality. Also coilovers are nice because you can alway raise your car back up if you needed to!!!

Heating a coil spring is the absolute wrong thing to do. It ruins the temper of the spring and destroys the spring rate. If you have to cut a coil, do it in a way such as to minimize the amount of heat put into the spring.

I personally don't think that there is anything wrong with cutting a little off of an aftermarket spring if you just need a little more or want to save $ , although I will also be the first to admit it isn't the ideal way.
