Looks like an interesting tire. Can you all Non-US owners give us reviews on it?

Any estimated time frame on when these will hit our shores? Sorry for chiming in here but I "hear" it's the new tire of choice overseas now when it come to high performance street tires.

My ITR is due for tires soon, I was researching S03 but it looks like its near the end of its line. The RE050 is amongst the top of my list. I saw this tire in an Australian ITR forum and thought I would share with you all.

I can get you a price quote and talk to a few locals and see what they think of the tire.

Eh... I just buy whatever used tires I can find, I'm too cheap to buy new.

But typically they end being old style Azenis with half tread, ES100s, Kumho MX, or something that effect. So it's all good.

I want to buck up and buy some nice tires for the Type-R soon though, might take a look at these.

The Bridgestone Adrenaline is also designated as the RE001. Just what we need, another designation to get confused with the RE01R and the RE010.

I haven't used it (obviously) but it appears (from the website as well as its large-block tread pattern) to be a high-performance summer street tire which maximizes dry traction. If so, this puts it in the same category as the beloved Falken Azenis RT-615, pricy BFG g-Force KD, and those two tires that aren't available (in North America) in sizes for the ITR, the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 and Bridgestone's own RE01R. Assuming that's true, the obvious question is how it will compare with those other tires. Right now, it's pretty hard to beat the Azenis for dry traction and purchase price; if they can match those and better the Azenis for treadlife and wet traction, they've got a contender.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by migs &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">My ITR is due for tires soon, I was researching S03 but it looks like its near the end of its line. What size are you looking for? And what do you care most about (dry traction, wet traction, treadlife, price, etc)?

There are a lot of good tires on the market, and of course it all depends on what you're looking for. Briefly, I think the best choices are:

- for outstanding dry traction only: Falken Azenis RT-615. Downsides are short treadlife and so-so rain traction.

- for outstanding dry traction and wet traction and treadlife: Goodyear F1 GS-D3, but only for 16" or 17" wheels on an ITR. Downside (in addition to lack of 15" availability) is high purchase price.

- for very good dry traction, excellent wet traction, treadlife, and price: Kumho SPT or Avon Tech M500.

- for those who must use the same tires in occasional snow in winter as well as moderate to warm temperatures the rest of the year: Kumho ASX.

Yes. Joined months ago, I just read more than post. It looks like ClubITR.au.com and ozhonda.com are predominantly DC5R's now.

I want a good all around tire. If I had to choose in order, it would be this.

Wet Traction - Dry Traction - Cost

Then go with the Kumho SPT or Avon Tech M500. Both are excellent in the rain, decent in the dry, and inexpensive.

The Goodyear F1 GS-D3 is even better, but it's pricy and only available in 16" or larger sizes for the ITR.

Which tires? Most Hankook street tires are not very performance oriented, with the exception of the R-S2 Z212, which is decent (although not as sticky as the Azenis). Kumho makes a wide variety, from the decent (ditto) MX, to the crappy 711 and 712, to the "great bang for the buck" SPT, to ASX and AST all-seasons, to their V710 track tires.

If you'd like to read the Grassroots Motorsports test, that included both tires (and a few others) in autocross testing, click here.
