i bought some FM901 and i notice the treadwear rating is 200. That seems pretty low. Does that mean it's a sticky tire and grips better than other dunlop tires that have a higher tread wear?

I've noticed that usually the sportier the tire, the lower its threadwear is. That means that softer rubber wears our faster. I would say yes. But threadwear ratings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so don't go by threadwear ratings to compare for grip.

ya it really depends because if you look at the Kumho Spt it has a 340 treadwear but the Es100 has a 280. But the Spt does better in all categories compared to the Es100. So yes it does play an effect but also depends on the company.

No, not at all. Treadwear may or may not correlate with grip.
For example, let's take two tires rated 200 for treadwear. One is the Falken Azenis RT-615, which may just be the grippiest tire on the planet. The other is the Dunlop FM901, which was okay when it first came out years ago, but is a crappy tire by today's standards, which is why Dunlop introduced the Direzza DZ101.
For another example, the DZ101 has a 300 treadwear rating, but gives much much MUCH better grip than the crappy FM901. So fast treadwear doesn't necessarily mean better grip, even when comparing tires made by the same manufacturer.

That sucks for me now. I should of started this tread before i bought the FM901 for my car. I bought the Direzza DZ101 for my brothers car. I though the FM901 would be stickier because of the lower tread wear would make a softer compound and softer compound would have more grip. I learned something.
