I've been putting my F2 together to get it streetworthy. I've been having some problems with the fuel system. Just wanted some opinions before I pull the carbs apart in case it could be something else...

What it is doing: It will start on a full choke and the rpm's will shoot up pretty high. Bring the choke down to drop the rpm's and give it some gas thru the throttle, it bogs hard and dies. It will not run off the choke at the moment. I have let it warm up with the choke on and it still can't stay on without it. It will also still bog once warm with the choke on and a little bit of throttle.

Any input is appreciated, I really know nothing about carb'd bikes. Thanks.

 

Carbs are flooding... how long was the bike sitting?

 

Sounds like a vacuum line is kinked or clogged, I'd check that before pulling the carbs. Check the carb vacuum first, that sounds like the culprit goodluck

 

If a vacuum line was clogged, then one (or more) of the slides wouldnt open up, but it should still run at idle off the choke.

There may be a vacuum leak involved as well (high RPM on startup). Tough to say... best to pull them off and take a look off the bike.

Couple months now.

I'm thinking there is a leak somewhere; I found this solenoid end that wasn't connected to anything. Doesn't look like it has been hooked up to anything in a while....



As for the flooding, is it possible something is staying open and flooding out at lower rpms/idle?

 

If you can get a hold of a service manual, see where that thing goes to... could be the source of a big vacuum leak. As a test, plug it and see if the bike runs any different.
