Stock Clutch Life
hey guys i have an 06 rsxs cai, cat back, n very soon hondata reflash it has about 18k on it. i plan on bring my car to the track to see what i can get it to run. but after running my car at the track im sure the clutch life will b shortened. so my question to u guys it how long did ur stock clutches last u after the abuse u guys put it thur?
I put 168,000+ on the del Slo's clutch and there was still 30-40% left when I replaced it.
There's 100,000+ on the EP3's right now, still nice & tight.

Had to change my EP's clutch at 70k miles because a piece of the pressure plate broke off. Otherwise I usually get 100k+ out of a clutch. Replaced with a Sachs clutch. Good for another 70k at least.

this is such a dependent factor, all depends on how you drive the car son.. Don't worry about it, the car only has 18k miles, plus when you DO replace it you can get a lighter flywheel/ACT clutch.
I had over 150 passes on the stock clutch and 24,000 miles when the tranny blew. Clutch had slight blueing, but was fine for alot more use wear wise.
I was impressed. I dropped it at 4500-6000rpm most passes, twice each pass for the little burn-outs.
Clutch is great, tranny is window glass...

I'm not a firm believer in lightened flywheels, i'd rather not put a whole essay on why but lets just say it's more work on the car physics wise.
DO NOT go with ACT they are the shittiest clutches you'll ever buy. They SUCK majorly and would NEVER tell anyone to buy one. They break to easy and ACT will turn their back on you in a heart beat and blame it on you.

Good to know. Would you saw Exedy is a better choice? Why not put a light weight fly on at the same time?

You will be fine. I have tracked my car about 5-6 times with 10 psi and the stock clutch and its still holding up not to bad. (5000 kms since being boosted).

I personally think it is hit or miss, granted this is going off of only what I have read. But most people tend to have problems with ACT. Some though have had a great product from ACT, but I think that it is more dependent on your setup overall.

sorry didn't see the post. yes exedy is a better choice then ACT but i like competetion clutch. I don't like lightened flywheels because the drawbacks include an increased risk of over-revving when you miss a gear. Also, you'll have to rev the engine a bit more to get the car rolling from a dead stop, because you'll have less rotational inertia to trade off.

Also, you'll have to rev the engine a bit more to get the car rolling from a dead stop, because you'll have less rotational inertia to trade off.

i see why you dislike a lightened flywheel because of the over-revving problem but it does make rev matching faster and easier. i have an 8lbs flywheel on my gsr and after getting used to it now its easy to drive. driving a car with a stock flywheel and clutch to me just feels wierd now.
