Just Starting Out, Advice Appreciated!
I've recently purchased an 06 SI and I'm starting down the LONG (an extremely fun) road of researching some aftermarket parts. Two questions for you experts out there...
#1: I'm looking into getting a Mugen JDM Civic Type R Sports Exhaust System, but my concern is that I'm going to be installing a bolt on turbo kit next year and all of the Mugen equipment is made strictly for naturally aspirated engines. What kind of performance can I expect from this Mugen piece with that turbo kit? Or am I better of with a different exhaust made specifically for forced air??
#2: Until I make this jump, I still want to break the engine in and get the car use to a higher air flow before I slap a turbo kit, headers, cams, etc onto it. I'm hearing two schools of thought: Cold Air vs. Ram Air. AEM or Injen cold air seems to be the intake of choice, but I'm curious if there is any real benefit to a ram vs. a cold especially for the short amount of time it'll be on my car.
Thank you for any additional advice, much appreciated!!

In reference to question #2, don't even waste your money on intake/ headers if you plan on going turbo. Just break-in the motor the way that it is. You don't get a motor used to ingesting more air... Just build it right the first time, and all should be well.
Whoever you get the turbo from, ask them what would be the best exhaust setup. Or you could just get a 3" exhaust now. The Mugen kit probably isn't a good move for you.
As for the engine, if you have an 06, I'm willing to bet the engine has more than 600 miles on it, so it is (according to honda) broken in.
The benefits of SRI's and CAI's have been gone over a lot on the forum, check around some other threads and make your own decision.

is there a ram air out for our car?!
from my understanding, a ram air doesnt have much benefits unless you drive really hard daily, say like +90-100mph daily

K&N makes a SRI for the R18.

I know tons of people who run CAI's here with no prob, just avoid the puddles, or get the bypass if AEM, or Hydroshield if Injen. I thinks it Hydroshield, but anyway, I have gone snorkeling tons of times in my carritos, and all you have to do is know how to drive through a puddle, and all should be well.
