Default 1998 CBRF3 hesitation at first twist of throttle, idle is fine......

I'm looking at buying an F3 from this guy as a project....aka...someone primered all the fairings......anyway! it took a twist of the throttle to start it and once started, idle was steady, but when you go to rev in neutral it hesitated and then continued on up past that with no troubles, didnt drive it yet, as the fact that the shift peg is rigged and didnt want to risk anything on someone elses bike.... it sounds to me like the carbs just need a good cleaning, any ideas? its a 98 F3 stock exhaust, no exhaust leaks, it was dropped at one time. has 22k on it. lemme know thanks guys

anyone???
the only thing i can think of is possible carb work needed. is this common on this bike or what? i know i didnt have this problem on my r6, but then again it was FI not carb....fuggit, i'll just buy it and rebuild the carbs, if that doesnt work i'll go from there.

Yea I'd pull the carbs and clean them up good. Also, get the factory specs and make sure the float and idle and all that is set properly.

Probably clogged idle jet, air leak on one of the carb boots, fouled plugs.... one of the above or a combination of them.

For some reason and I don't know why, a lot of my buddies that still have carb bikes tend to always get the bigger jet than the mods they have, thus causing the bike to have a crazy powerband.
Make sure that if it is jetted, that the correct jet kit is on, I've seen it time and time again where it would a person has a bigger jet than allotted and causes the bike to run like ****
BTW how do you go from a 04 r6 back to a 98, there is no comparison FI FTW

umm welll its going to take a little while its gonna fall on its face a little cause its carb. but after 4-5 grand it should really take off. also check vacume lines thus this was the problem on my f3.
