permatex gasket never really holds unless it is used with conjunction of a gasket.
I hope you know that
So I would say that your best bet would be to use hondabond or what toyota uses on their oil pans

You know that Hondabond is very similar to Permatex 'grey', right? Hondabond *is* easier to work with, but the end result is the same. There's other flavors out there that work just as well (toyota/subaru brand, threebond, etc).

clean the surface properly and only use the permatex. that ***** works great. my buddy uses it for his oil pan gasket on his 13b, and if u know anything about rotary gaskets/seals youll understand.

Bro, I work on cars, I know.
The only way permatex works is if you have the surfaces clean and have all the bolts at the same torque, which then even when it hardens up, you can flick it off like rubber. Hondabond is actually different type of sealant, and lasts way longer.
How does every toyota and honda use gasket type oil pan gaskets and at least last a good 60-100k before needing replacement?
You get what you pay more, permatex in my mind should only be used as assurance when there is a gasket as well.
