B18C5 Motor Rebuild Help
Well Lately I have been driving my stock motor around thinking whats next. I drove my friends fully build GSR NA i was amazed. Then i got to drive my first turboed car. eg with b18c full race turbo est 500whp. I was blown away.
Thing is i know the ITR is know for the na power it gives but i always wanted a turbo always. I know its going to be a little more expensive but this is what i have planned out of far as of bottom end. i havent found a compnay that makes good cam setups for those turboed guys give me a little insight.
Bottom End:
Forged 9.0:1
H Beam Rods
Sleeved 85MM (LA Sleeves)
Full-Race ProAm T4/44 Dual Gate Manifold
Full-Race 4" Downpipe
PWR Liquid to Air Intercooler
2x Tail 44m Waste Gates
3.9 Axles
full rebuild tranny with stage 3 clutch
plus all the little gooides that go with it. either chrome or hondata s300 still dont know yet. plus another question is what is a good daily driven turbo 350 or 500. this will be tuned before its even driven on the road as a note.
Turbo Guys toss me some info

I would suggest going 83mm bore just in case something bad happens, that way you can still reuse the sleeved block by going 84 or 85mm. If you start at 85 and something happens you might as well "give" it away to an na guy. Also, I agree with the 9:1 compression for boost. I still dont get the high compression boost builds... makes it harder to tune (smaller window for tuning/bad gas/temperature/etc). good luck

Because higher compression will help spool and when off boost it will give better response. That's what I gather anyway.
Look at Tony the Tiger's build as an example...though recently, I believe he also dropped the CR in favor of more boost?
Just depends what you're after really....

the reason some people choose to go a little higher is so that the car isnt a dog when its driven out of boost.
10.0:1 isnt that bad to tune on.. It's a stock gsr's compression pretty much.
I would probably get the 9.0:1 though, just because i like the extra safeguard of it. I definitely do not tthink its a bad idea to go tht low.

mines a 83mm b18c5 with 9:1 and an sc61...my car is by no means a "dog" out of boost. Oh, and I get full boost around 5000rpm. Plus I'm not afraid of pushing 94 octane to 20psi on an sc61
im not going to be running a huge turbo just one big enough to give me my 18psi. just the 10:1 thing got me thinking that isnt it high scompression pistons also cause predet alot easier.

yes, higher compression tends to detonate easier. But with the proper tune, you'll be fine.

goal is 350- 450 streetable. trying to go with a small t4 turbine that has little lag. Not looking for something that is able to put out 50psi just something small enough to do what i want and little lag as possible. i know there will be lag reguardless but i do not need a huge turbine
you dont need a t4 turbine to make 350-450whp. there are plenty of options to get in in that range. bigger t3/t4 (57 or 60 trim), sc61, t3 60-1, gt30r or 35r, gt32 or gt35 as well. as can be had in t3 frame.
to be honest it just sounds like your spitting out things and have no idea what or why you want them (not trying to be a d*ck)

Bottom End:
Forged 9.0:1 CP , wiseco, endyn are all good choices
H Beam Rods eagle will be fine for 350-400, but if your sleeving might as well go with a nice set of manley rods or even crower
Sleeved 85MM (LA Sleeves) don't go that big with FI,i would go with an 83mm bore like stated above so you have a chance to overbore if necessary in the future
Full-Race ProAm T4/44 Dual Gate Manifold unless you plan on getting this used and its a great deal a regular pro-am manifold with single gate will work just fine unless you plan on running a massive turbo at low boost (the twin gates help regulate boost on huge turbo's with low boost, otherwise they are unnecessary)
Full-Race 4" Downpipeagain not necessary, a 3" will work just fine for your power goals
PWR Liquid to Air Intercoolernot a good idea for a street or autocross type of vehicle as they get heat soaked very quickly and an air-to-air will be much better design for a street type of vehicle
2x Tail 44m Waste Gatesexplained above
3.9 Axlesstock axles will work fine but if you have the money upgraded axles are always a nice thing to have
full rebuild tranny with stage 3 clutchif your trans is fine now, why rebuild it, if not then rebuild it and put in an obx or quaife lsd if the fund exist, the aftermarket lsd will be much better then oem lsd

hondata s300 is great if you want to tune it yourself, or there is neptune, if you know someone who is great with crome then that is also a very decent tuning tool, if i were you I would ask your tuner what their preference is as far as ecu management
