Well a friend of mine is welding my exhaust i have the piping. Its going to be 2.5 inch piping, my question is how do i flare the pipe out alittle bit to fit it around the resonator to weld it since u cant just butt the pieces together ?
Take that piece to an exhaust shop and have them flare it for you. The machine to do that is expensive so just take it to your local exhaust shop they shouldnt charge you but a few bucks.

Yeah. Slip-ons are nice for headers, but for pipe->pipe connections, a butt weld is going to be easier. I don't see why you couldn't butt the resonator and the pipe together. A picture might make it easier for us to help you.
Anyhow, that tool will break the first time you use it. Its meant to straighten out the bends a U-bolt puts on a piece of flared pipe, not expand virgin pipe. I've broken 3 or 4 of the AutoZone rent-a-tool versions. My local Midas does expanding of pipes for free, just go on a slow day and ask nicely. I ususally tip the tech $10 for the trouble.
