Default b18b in an EF

the hybrid forum seems to be moving pretty slow...so i'll repost here. (hope no one minds)

just pulled my d16 out and chose the b18b for replacement and I have some questions:

1.) What axles are needed? Hasport sells axles for the b18 into an EF application, but can I just get a pair from my local junkyard from a teg? or do they need to be specialized like the one hasport sells. The Hasport axles are expensive as hell: http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=105

2.) I was looking at the thread where people bought there motors from, but the poll seems a little out dated. I'm debating between HMO and Sohfast. I've heard good things about HMO, but Sohfast seems to be also popular.
__________________________________________________

HMO sells both the JDM and USDM b18b:
30007 - B18B 94-01 (LS) Complete Change Over
145Hp 127Trq 9.4 Compression (JDM)
142Hp 127Trq 9.2 Compression (USDM)

3.) besides compression ratio, what are the differences between JDM vs. USDM? JDM claims to produce 3 more WHP, does it have different internals? Which would have lower mileage/less wear and tear. JDM I would have to use 93 octane correct? As opposed to USDM where I can use 87. What do you guys recommend, JDM or USDM?

4.)Transmission: S80 vs Y80. Correct me if I'm wrong but S80 is USDM and Y80 is JDM? So if I get a JDM b18b, it comes with a Y80 tranny. And if I get a USDM b18b it will come with a S80 tranny? Any major differences? I know JDM trannies tend to have short gears, and this is mainly going to be a DD, will see the autoX/drag every now and then.

5.) My shopping list so far:
-HMO complete change over: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...30007

-Hasport EFB2 Mount kit with Hydro to Cable conversion: http://hasport.com/shop/produc...id=32

-Hasport EF to B shift linkage: http://hasport.com/shop/produc...id=42

-Hasport EF to B axles, (or teg axles from local junkyard, see question 1): http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=105

Am I missing anything? What are these for?:
http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=109
http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=110

6.) Wiring:
I'm more than likely going to be using Rywire. Do I send my EF harness and the new LS harness to Rywire? Or just one or the other?

-I think that's everything. Any information is appreciated, can't have enough knowledge. Thanks in advance.

To answer your q's
1. Use some teg axles. I would say get some from Autozone unless you want to waste $$$ on the hasport 1s
2. Go with HMO. I haven't heard anything bad about them
3. I would say between JDM & USDM thats up to you. Only diff might be emissions ?
4. I dont know this one
5. Your list is ok except of course the axles unless like stated on #1. As for http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=110 you will need that but you can get that way cheaper at a junkyard.
http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=109 that one I dont know about maybe someone else can confirm it
6. You can either go with Rywire and just find out which harness to send or you can rewire it yourself. Shouldn't be that hard. You can always find a how-to for it.

**Now dont quote me on much of these for I am not 100% and just letting you know what I know but I know other people can help you out**

Wow...I really hope you're replying to my sarcasm with rhetoric statement...let me think about this:

You seriously want me to drive up hour and a half...midst of all the rush hour traffic to show you:

-Which axles you need for a B-series swap...since (like i mentioned before) it's NEVER been covered before on this board...let alone on this planet and you're the first person to EVER pull this off and is running into issues with research.

-Which motor to recommend?....because other personal opinions will ultimately set you straight with the right motor choice.

-Which transmission between the Y80 and S80 is JDM and which is USDM? Since that's ALSO never been covered before so it’s a completely legitimate question right?

-A shopping list for a B-series swap in an EF. Is all I can think of saying about this…

-Wiring? Rywire.com couldn’t have done it better with explaining:
- What you will get:
- What to expect:
- What we need from you:

Could it possibly be any easier then that?

----

I'm seriously sick of people being utterly lazy and requesting information regarding swaps which have been covered over and over and over and over again. It's one thing to run into issues MIDST your swap because that’s imminent. But from what I see you’re basically asking people to provide you with list and steps from A-Z with your specific swap for which you don’t even know what motor you want to swap in. There are numerous websites which show you how to do a b-series swap STEP by STEP and all these sites also include a very detailed shopping list with all the parts you need, along with which specific axles, which specific mounts, wiring. What more information do you need?

I’m just sick of people wanting custom catered help for their swaps.

Now I usually don't get into pissing arguments, but in your case I'm going to make an exception because I'm pretty bored at work.

If your putting this much effort into elaborating your frustration then maybe you should come up and visit. I could actually use some help getting my old motor on an engine stand, seriously no joke.

ah
Then don't bother reading and replying to the thread. It doesn't even look like any one cares about your rambling nonsense rants and it seems like you lack maturity for your age. After research on H-T it seems like I'm not the only one who observes this behavior: (see I do know how to search )

I don't know what your original post was but I can only assume it was more of your crying based upon the repsonses. Why'd you edit your post? Are you embarrassed of something?

Point proven even more: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2022328&page=2

for example my rich-spoiled-brat cousin (who's probably trolling on this board):

-Daddy buys him:

-A mint condition crx
-All necessary tools
-All resources needed
-All expenses paid swap essentials including the motor swap.
Wow. What does it matter to you what other people do? He's your cousin and you think of him this way? Your crying/jealous behavior proven again. What's his H-T name? Maybe just maybe I can support a fellow Punjabi in the honda community.

Also, it looks like you spend more time e-bashing than providing anything constructive:

Why are you so mad? I created this thread for some clarification from knowledgeable people before I spend several thousands of dollars.

I'm not asking for steps, I got that covered. Through research came upon Engine Swaps 101 from HondaSwap. Pretty informative. Instead of bashing, it would have been more helpful if you just directed me there, but oh well.

I don't recall asking which motor I should swap in. I do remember asking differences between the JDM vs. USDM motor other than CR and 3 extra HP that HMO claims with the JDM motor. I also asked for recommendations, but never the infamous noob post "which motor should I put in my EF" which you also more than likely flame constantly.

What's up with all the hostility? It seems like you got some deeper issues other than people asking questions that have been covered "over and over and over" again. You can tell me, I can keep secrets.

Oh and since your in baltimore, I was serious when I said I could use your help getting my motor on the engine stand. Frederick isn't too far away. I don't really have anyone else who is mechanically inclined. My mom isn't really that helpful when it comes to automotive stuff, she can cook a mean pizza though.

Please PM me if you can stop by, weekends are good.

Ok, well to start off with-let it be known that “91.crx.si” was the first one to go off topic with this technical related thread. It has spawned into a personal argument if not a debate against me. I did not point or push this thread into this direction at all, also let it be known that I tried to keep it as technical as possible but the op obviously go seriously offended and insulted by replies and had to turn this into a personal argument.

With that said and done, you just did an awesome job in making yourself seem like the typical rebellious forum noob. And just like any noob who’s spent a few months trolling on this board, you feel like you’ve gained enough knowledge and confidence to talk down to whoever you want. Well sadly this might end here as I’m going off topic as well only to reply back to something which awfully upset you. You’re noob…learn to deal with being dicked around on a board.

I’m not even going quote every single thing you said, I’ll do simple replies making it easier for you to read since you’re awfully upset right now and any more torment might cause you be a little suicidal.

-Visit you and teach you how to turn a wrench?....get the *** out…seriously

-Don’t bother reading or replying to a thread?

Why not? I’m among many others….who you might call resident ********. Member’s of a community who are sick of lazy people like you. Lazy people who seriously can’t spend a few minutes researching on an enormous catalog of topics/article/how to’s/walktrhough’s/DIY’s this board has to offer. But instead you want a custom catered DIY written by others just for you.

-When did this turn into a personal argument? Since when was MY behavior a part of YOUR deficiency to perform a menial task of searching using the proper credentials for a helpful search pertaining to what YOU need. It seems like I’ve really upset you that you had to go search old topics I created to prove a non-existing, non-pertaining point. This thread is about YOUR lack of intelligence to perform a proper search. But hey, I could care less, search all you want, I’m not the one defending myself.

-Yes my cousin is a rich spoiled brat. There’s not much more to say about that. That thread was basically a “build vs. buy”. I was just clarifying the definition of “build” and just like I said, someone else buying all your stuff is still built NOT bought. A lot goes into proper financing and working hard to make bring your car to a point of your preference. Money has a lot to do with it, its not built if you didn’t work hard for it.

--and for the record, I hate my cousin, I really wish I wasn’t related to him. I’m embarrassed by the fact that there’s a blood relation between someone like myself and him. I chose not to associate with people who are rich and spoiled and I could give two ***** if they were related or not. It’s only a tragedy and a pity that we’re related. Seriously, *** blood relations, it’s only an obligated, tragic correlation and nothing more.

-I spend more time ridiculing people then actually helping?

Yea…I guess you forgot to look past the first 2 hits on the search. I offer help and provide informative posts on valid threads. People who aren’t lazy and have an actual issue, I’ll gladly throw in my 2 cents. Lazy people like yourself, it’s a different story, you guys get nothing but the resident ******* treatment which you guys deserve. Simple as that.

- And most of all I’m not being hostile at all…if anything I’m pointing you in the direction of that search button on the top right which you claim you know how to do..but sadly you still ask questions.

-Actually I’m not even around Baltimore anymore, but regardless…do I want to come help you out? …seriously…get the *** out..
