no i mean...i've never see a tire that's 205/40-16... i'm using 205/40-17s... if u use those ur speedo will be off and tire profile pretty thin i think

on the same wheel? because wheel designs can produce a faux lip. i think u need to learn some wheel terminology (not bashing), just saying that u can understand offsets and such much better.
if it's 38 vs 40 on the same designed wheel...in theory the lip should be 2mm bigger...ORRR the lug mount spot/hub (whutever) will be skinnier....

i'm not saying standards by anymeans.
38 offset on wheelA and 38 offset on wheelB can = different sized "lips"....
and for wheels that don't have a lip regardless...such as TEs or cr kais... the offset will be present through concavity.

o ok thanks bro....so theoretically....with any wheel with a lip you probably wont see a HUGE difference at a 38 offset depending on what they can get and the rim its self..kinda sorta hitting the answer

these two wheels in real life would have the same offset and very different lip sizes... (i hope this illustration makes sense)
1st wheel being convex, which is highly improbable
and 2nd wheel being concave (no lip)

lol just trying to help explain things how the number for offset isn't directly correlated to lip size
