225wide tires ok on 5g lude?
I know 215mm wide tires won't have any probs on a 5G lude, but there's a lot more options for tires that are 225mm wide. So, w/ a 18x7.5 +48 wheel and a 225/40/18 tire, would there be any probs with rubbing at all? The car is lowered about 1.75F/1.5R. This is for my gf's lude. Thanks.

I just put on 215/40/17 and with my 2" drop I had/have rubbing problems. My problem came from the tire shop not properly measuring the offset of the stock wheel and making sure the replacment would match.

Yeah, from my research, I'm 99% positive the +48 offset on the wheels she wants would be fine, but I've always seen 5g lude owners use 215/40 tires. While I was on tirerack.com, I noticed there's not a log of choices in 215/40 but a LOT more in 225/40, so I'm trying to see if the tire itself would be too wide and cause rubbing. I'm confident the wheels won't contribute to any fitment probs. Hope you got your rubbing issues resolved. Thanks.

The 48 ofsett is kinda steep, but 35 or 30 series will prevent rubbin.

I had 225/40/18 on a 99 and a 01 prelude and they rubbed like a bitch when i had two or more people in the car or taking a hard corner. I would go 215. Oh my girl was fine when she drove it, just tell her to take it easy when driving.

I have a question also. I just got on my 4th gen... a 16" rim with 225's on them. I also have a 2.25 drop. can I expect rubbing. oh yeah 4ws if that also makes a diff.

i'll have to disagree on that..
i've had 225/40/18 on a 99 prelude.. no rubbing at all. ZERO. even with 4 people in the car.. PLUS a full load of stereo items in the trunk.
to be safe.. try.. 225/35/18.
good luck.

well, it also depends on how low the car is and what offset the rims are.
also, 225/40/18 will slow your car down. it's a known fact. even if the weight of the rim is the same as stock.
