lsvtec help
i have a 90 crx with a built lsvtec its honed balaced eagle rods ctr pistons tr pullex skunk2 cam gears gsr head i put the motor in its wouldnt start at first played with timing started i go to drive it, it feels like **** no throttle response and doesnt feel peppy at all once vtec engages it feels a little better but not like it sould its untuned running on a basemap from xenocron any ideas of what could be the issue also what sould the timing be set at right now everythins at 0 i have to go in with a timing light but i was wondering if there was a good place to start besides 0?? any help is appreciated
K, few questions.
1. did you break the engine in? are the rings seated? have you checked the compression, had a leakdown test, made sure that the motor is ok? burning any oil?
2. management and tuning. to be honest I dont really know what xenocron is. I run Crome 1.2, it's a great rom editor. You are running obd-I right now, right? Set timing at base at the distributor for now, don't advance it, or play with cam gear timing.
once you establish that the engine is in good running shape, get someone to hook up a wide band oxygen sensor so that you can know what air fuel ratios you're running. it'll run like **** if it's too rich or lean. also, do a search for 'det cans' on here. maybe you're detonating like crazy, but can't hear it... a 15 dollar det can is a great tuning tool, it lets you hear detonation that you couldnt hear otherwise.

motor isnt brokem im yet i wanted to tune it first theres 2 miles on it xenocron is a company i had chip my ecu and they gave me a base map ill do a compression check tomorow as well as a leak down the only tests ive done so far is for oil pressure. thanks for the advice i will check those few things and tell you how it goes
