What to do, bottom end on GSR just went
I knew it would happen sooner or later but I bought a used GSR from a HT member with high mileage and knew the bottom end would go soon based on the mileage. Well 2 months and 4K miles later, the bottom end let go. Now what to do
1 Rebuild GSR bottom end, head is already built,
2 I have a high mileage type r motor that needs to be rebuilt, rebuild bottom end and head and drop that in with itr 4.785 final drive tranny
3 Buy a used JDM ITR swap and drop in.
I think one will be cheapest and would get me running again but I always planned on putting back my old ITR motor after it is rebuilt...Just worried about cost

Car did not want to start then I heard some rod knocking when it finally did, then of course it died and would not start again... I think it finally let go after 164K miles on the original bottom end.
Yep, I have a perfect USDM ITR tranny with a JDM final drive installed already.

Damn. That just sounds so sad.
Rebuild the GSR and swap in the ITR trans while you have it out.
Sell the ITR Block if you need the money to do it.

I think I am going to take it to NRG Tech to diagnose and repair. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Only thing that pisses me off is the price I paid for the car and that I needed to rebuild so soon. Car was missing so many parts that I was lucky enough to scavenge from my old GSR. Still when I removed the distributor yesterday to see if it was a distributor problem, one of the bolts was missing and one of the screws for the cap was snapped off!
My only worry about rebuilding the bottom end is that it will end up costing me the same as rebuilding the ITR one, oh yeah oil pan on the GSR is dented as well.
