Default 99 Si - valve type noise... Bent valve??

I recently picked up a 99 Si with a bolt on Drag turbo kit, completely stock motor. So I know its been beat on..

It has a horrible noise that sounded exactly like loose valve lash. So I checked the lash, and every valve was at least .002 loose. I set them at .007 I and E. The noise is STILL there.

So I adjusted the intake valves to .006 like other people have been saying, and now the noise is REALLY bad. I've never seen anything like this before, or heard that kind of noise before.

Anyone have any ideas??

Did you do a compression test?

Haven't yet. I have noticed that it does have a steady idle, but its only at 16" of vacuum... The most vacuum I've seen with the motor was right at 20" with closed throttle at higher RPM...

Try some lucasoil stabalizer, helped make my motor much quieter
That may help the situation.

No offense, but I don't really think MMO or the Lucas stabilizer is going to help much, especially since the noise is now worse when I tightened the valve lash...

If nobody else has any better suggestions, then yeah I'll try the oil stabilizer, but I'd like to keep looking around...

But not really a sign of a bent valve.

Right now I'm worried about the noise, I can worry about the headgasket later.

The injectors are CRAZY loud, but its just one continuous noise, not 4 going at once. I spent a lot of time with the stethescope making sure it wasn't the injectors. If I unplug two injectors at a time, the noise is still there and just as loud.

A friend suggested that I check out the lost motion assemblies... The symptoms sound the same as what I have, but I wanted to ask and see if anyone else knew...

Cold start in the morning, there is no noise at all. Once its been running for maybe a minute the noise is there, and it gets worse for the next few minutes, then its just a contstant loud noise... Does this sound like a LMA?

I checked the LMAs on my lunch break and two or three of them are HORRIBLY loose, I can push them down with my finger. I'll probably do a T belt/water pump and headgasket when I replace those as well. Pretty sure the new HG will solve my low compression on 3 and 4.

I'll update the post whether or not the LMAs fixed the noise. Thanks for all the help!!!!
