Piston rings replacement D16Z6 motor

Default Piston rings replacement D16Z6 motor

I am planning of replacing my piston rings on my D16z6 motor.
My questiion is can I remove the piston from the top of my engine block and not from the bottom of the crankshaft.

Thanks.</TD></TR></TABLE>Yes, thats how they normally come out. Unbolt the rod caps, and gently push the pistons out from the block. The motor should be out of the car either way, as after the glaze hone is done, the block should be washed.

Finally someone helpful answer my questions. I thought nobody reads my post. I really appreciate your help. I never done this job before. I might not have to hone the bore and just change the pistons rings and that's it. have you done this job before?

I'd do the bearing too while your in there.

you're gonna want to hone it if u want the rings to seat

Yes I will also replace the rod bearing, head gasket, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and of course piston rings Thanks.

does it reallly necessary? how hard is it to hone?

Yes, honing is pretty cheap.

It is necessary, because if it's scathed in any way the rings won't seal right and you'll have blow-by.
