Default Completely Resetting ECU

Everyone keeps mentioning resetting their ECU...How exactly do you do that? Some say to disconnect the neg. terminal and pump the brakes others say that won't work. How do you do it? And is it the same for any Accord? And what are the benefits/negatives? Thx.

It discharges the capacitors in the electrical system which may have residual charge.

Disconnect negativer terminal, pull ECU fuse, pull hazard light fuse, let sit for 10 minutes. Replace everything and let idle for 10 minutes.

2002 acura tl-s: ok, so what to do when this reset WONT work? im having a MAJOR issue here.. the vsa,cel,abs,d5 lights are all flashing crazy. i tried to reset the ecu, removing the battery cable, removing fuses, even a snap-on heritage scanner WONT ease the problem! wtf?!?!? im getting a BOAT LOAD of codes being thrown my way,.. (dtc list) p1298, p0135, p0141,and p1768. aswell as, over 100 -abs- codes. i know what the dtc codes are, that is simple. erasing them and/or fixing them seems the issue.
how it got this way, you ask? -not many ideas.. i changed the axles, replaced struts, replaced the timing belt, water pump, motor mounts, added headers and intake, replaced the cat, and the rest of the exhaust system, using the same stock mufflers.
i dont understand how doing these SIMPLE and COMMON tasks have led to this massive mess. i can understand frying the o2 sensor, or something like that, but getting failing transmission codes?? - i dont get it!
-admitting defeat (so far) HELP!!
