how do u reset the ecu? ? ?
how do u reset the ecu? i have a 93 civic wit a B18C swap. i heard that all u have to do is unplug the ecu for like a minute, another friend told me to disconnect both battery cables and touch them together for 20 sec with the ecu plugged in. anyone know which way is the right way? ? ? ?
disconnect the battery. there are capacitors in the circut boards that hold charge. leave it unplugged for several minutes. then put it back on, start the car. you can clear a code in like 15-30 seconds, to fully wipe out the backup memory leave it be for 5-10 min. you dont have to touch the battery terminals together. thats rediculous. removing the negative pole from the system takes the voltage out of the loop and discharges everything.
Per the CHILTON manual disconnect the ECU plug from the ECU itself...And disconnect the battery for a full hour...Then attach the battery and ECU. That is how it is done...Hope this helps...
