Default Ding Repair

My wife and I picked up our new Honda Fit this past Friday. We got a black base M/T and absolutely love it. It's exactly what we were looking for in an automobile. And now tragedy has struck.

Today (Sunday) we walked out into the parking lot to see a nice fat ding in the passenger side door. We've been very careful to park away from people if possible, and definitely not next to trucks and SUVs, and yet, we've got a nice fat ding - paint removed and everything.

What can we do about it? We're both really inexperienced on the "new car thing" and I'm really rather upset about this careless person, although I know the person is long gone. There is a slight ding and some paint gone. What's the best place to get it repaired? How much is it likely to cost? I can post pictures later if you think it'll help, but we're really at a loss. Please let me know if you have any input.

I hope someone can help you. I also have a "ding" on my door. It's more of a dent in the form of a line with a scuff mark.

i know how you feel . i never park next to suv or trucks at school. i always park at the end spots where no one is next to you on one side and yet one day someone took my spot so i had to park between someone. went home washed my car and saw a ding on the passenger side door

Yea, we have the line with the scuff and a dent, unfortunately at the bottom of the scuff there's some paint missing. It really bums me out as it's a two freaking day old car (and our first new car), so we'd really like it in that perfect state still. We have to bring it into the dealership this week (or beginning of next week) anyways for the last of the accessories to be put in, is the dealership qualified to do this? I assume they'll charge an arm and a leg...

We'd really like some input from people with experience in the matter......please?

Dings are a pain in the butt. You can try to call a PDR guy. (Paintless dent repair) Most give you a free estimate. You can always try "Ding King" Works on big dings, but it'll just make it smaller. Best way to hide it, sticker. =D Good luck man... I hate when I get dings too. I friggin want to put a flame thrower whoever touches my car.

Heat-gun or hair blow drier for a few minutes on the dinged area until very hot, then use a can of air spray (computer keyboard cleaner) upside down on it immediately until the can runs out and from what I have friends tell me.. it should pop right out. As for the paint, it depends on how much paint was damaged, if its a little bit, get a detailing shop to touch it up or if its a lot, you might be better ofs respraying the entire door.

Let us know how it goes. Also, pics will help. Damn I hate other drivers sometimes!

Default Maybe Door Panel is . . .

I think the panels are just too thin on the cars. The slightest bump will dent your car, and I have even seen places from where I pushed on the door with my hand that is weak and afraid it will eventually look like a wavy finish from people leaning on the fenders or doors. Its an uphill battle. One thing to consider is adding those funky side moldings and I have heard of magnetic types that can be removed when not needed. Or just park careful.
