Default simple mods

Hi I have a 95 honda del sol sohc I want to get some extra horsepower out of it. I really don't want to turbo or supercharge it. I have some dc headers a cat back exhaust and a short ram intake, is that pretty much everything that I can do that would keep it smog legal. I live in California and the smog laws are kinda strict. Any suggestions would be great, Thanks

You can spend ~$400 for a cam, and still not be happy, or you can run nitrous.

Not a smart idea unless you get your ECU chipped and have the car dyno tuned after the installation of the new camshaft.

Running a cam w/o a tune of the fuel maps for the extended profiling of the new cam lobes is just stupid. It almost completely defeats the purpose of putting in the cam.

what's the problem with turbo or sc? They can be fast, reliable, and legal. (only problem is that since you're in cali turbo will be make u run through more loops.

But what do you want us to do? You already seem to have the modifications you want/need. And screw nitrous, you'll blow your sohc in a heart beat.

Yeah, my friend just wanted a little kick so he's only boosting 7psi on a mid-size turbo.

Turbo or supercharge is the most bang for ur buck. Will probably set you back 1000-2500 depending on how good you are at shopping, what you're looking for, and how much you know about it (assuming you're keeping the bottom end stock).

Yeah, now you got +25 extra HP and are AT LEAST 1k in the hole . Let's say you get the cam for 500, okay, peachy, then what, 3 angle valve job w/ valves - machine work, then get it tuned on a dyno? ****, by the time you hit 50+ whp you're gonna be a good $2000 into it...

Do nothing to it.

Why exactly don't you want to swap/boost it?

There are plenty of people on d-series.org with over 100k that have been boosted for years.

There's even a club for boosted d's with 150k miles.
