Default Aftermarket Cam and Emissions CA?

Will an aftermarket cam effect emissions on a d16z6? Does it depend on the type of cam, I was thinking Zex 59300? I live in So. Cal. and was just wondering if this makes it harder to pass smog check.

Thanks!

Changing your cam could definitly effect your emissions. Since your cam allows more air in the engine you put more fuel in the engine which creates higher emissions.

It depends on the cam specs, specifically how much overlap there is. That keeps the intake and exhaust valve open at the same time and lets unburned fuel into the exhaust. As for whether it'll effect your ability to pass inspection will depend on that. Technically unless it has an EO number, it's illegal. I wouldn't volunteer the fact that you have a cam (any cam) to the inspector...
