Default Honda Hybrid Hybrid???

Has anyone ever heard of a swapped honda insight? I think this could be the coolest honda swap ever... it kinda looks like a new gen CRX but its SO slow

heres the stats on a stock insight at a glance:

Vehicle type front-wheel drive, 2-person, 3-door coupe
Fuel consumption (hwy/city) 70/61 mpg
Acceleration (0-60 mph) 11 sec
Transmission 5 speed manual
Body construction Aluminum alloy
Curb weight 1887 lbs.
Aerodynamic drag 0.25 cd
Price w/ AC $20,080 US

i plugged this curb weight into a quarter mile calc. and assuming 220hp(ls vtec?) to the crank: The quarter mile acceleration time of a car that weighs 1887 pounds and has 220 horsepower is 11.924 seconds. The speed is 114.336281399037 mph. a turbo ls vtec in one of these thigs would def be the ultimate sleeper. so has anyone heard of this being done or am i just stupid?

he's saying these guys have been actively racing their insights for a while now...bisi especially is pretty high profile. Norris is an *** but races with a pretty good sponsor list.

keep in mind that battery bank the insight uses weighs alot, so that curb weight you have might not be accurate (lighter) when you consider what it'd weigh without that. then again, i'm sure whatever swapped engine would end up weighing the same as the orig engine and battery bank combined.

i think the main problem would be finding one that you could use. it'd be very expensive for something that barely fits two people and probably isn't commonly around/available

Just get a CRX...atleast it'd be a good looking vehicle at that point.

Problem with the insight is the body shell is really frail. The car was no way inteded to have even a heavy motor in it. It's mostly aluminum and is in no way close to the rigitity of an NSX.

well, i'm sure he qualified it by making the NSX comment because if he solely said it was made mostly of Al, someone in typical h-t fashion would say 'but the NSX is mostly aluminum'
