timing belt!
ok im on to putting the timing belt on my h23vtec. I have the manual tensioner on there and have it loosened all the way. Im having trouble getting the timing belt on. I have a helms manual and it shows a timing belt slider tool. Is this tool necassary to get the timing belt on? I called and they wanted $110 for the tool. I cant see spendin that much on a tool that im gonna use only once. If so anyone have one they wanna sell?
put it over the cam gears first, around the water pump, over the tensioner, then onto the crank gear. thats the easiest way i found to do it.
its easier if you have another person holding it on the cam gears to make sure it doesnt slip off.

so put it on the intake cam first?....after i get it on the waterpump and around the crank gear it should be pretty easy to get it on the exhaust cam?

the balancer shaft belt is completely seperate from the timing belt, that shouldn't really affect it at all.
to clarify a lil more, put the t.belt over BOTH cam gears, have someone hold the free end that goes over the exhaust cam (even tho its not gonna move) then you take the free end that goes over the intake cam, pull it TIGHT, around the water pump, always keeping tension on it, over tensioner, still pulling tight, around the crankshaft. it'll be a lil bit of a PITA to line the humps up w/ the gear, but it should line itself up eventually
