96-00 HONDA CIVIC MSD CAP DISTRIBUTOR EXTERNAL COIL... Are they a good idea?
Wow 97Ej6mike you get irritated easily if CAP LOCKS disturbs U. Do you even have a clue about distributor systems? I don't that's for sure but if you have nothing constructive to stay keep smoking your Japanese herbs and sage.
Caps lock makes me feel like I'm being yelled at.

To answer your question, the msd kit on anything near stock will only get you a smoother idle. No real gains.

I'm sure the common civic enthusiast would be interested expireinced practical results.
Im pretty sure i know a ton more about ignition than you do. As for that sage thing its part of my signature, and has nothing to do with this subject whatsoever.
MSD cap and rotor do make a small noticable difference at the lower end of the RPM range and thats about it, but fairly often, allot of people who tend to post up about having a misfire and/or ignition related problems, it all points back to their MSD system.
Friend had it, it caused his ignition to randomly misfire sometimes, throwing a CEL once in awhile. It made the lower end of his y7 a tiny bit more peppy and torqy, but after 3500 or so RPM, you didnt feel any difference
. Finally after putting up with it for a month, he tossed the entire system altogather for stock, and the car runs better now, lol. Its a complete waste of space and money.

From personal experience..all this do its take $500 dollars or more out of your pocket and clutter youre engine bay. I'd say for any streetable car this system is absolutely worthless.

Now that wasn't so hard was it! I'm proud of you guys you made some progress not all of us have first hand expirience that's why people come here to learn from successes and loses. I generally enjoy helping people life is to short!
I like helping people too. People who at least show they tried to help themself first. It appears you've done no research for the answer and are looking for a handout. People around here are tired of handing out the same info that can be found using the Search. MSD is a three letter 'word' (you can't search for 2-letter words) and brings up a grip of "first hand experiences of successes and losses" (both present and archived searches).
