Are A/F ratios affect by gear?
I just wanted to get feedback on this, I mean I couldn't see why it would be affected the mixture itself isn't changed when you change gears and you don't increase vacuum pressure at all unless you open the throttle more.
I Ask this because I'm street tuning(Hondata S300) until I can get it on a dyno to get it all tuned out. Right now I have it pretty good but I have all the cruising speed pressure columns tuned while in 5th gear because that when I'm usually in the first columns so it seemed sensable. I do notice however that it is a tad richer in the lower gears(nothing richer then 13.5) in the same columns but as I'm only in those columns for a second that seems ok.
Other then that I'm addicted to tuning my car, I can't wait to get it on a dyno for a few hours, it really wakes up the car the stock honda maps are soo rich even out of VTEC it's not funny.

When you tune it is all about load, throttle position is a fair indicator of load at times, but MAP reading is the best.
With that said, the gear you're in will dictate the amount of load you have to put on the engine to keep going or accelerate.
Spend a lot of time on your street tuning, all different loads at all different rpm, you'll thank yourself later when the car drives perfectly.

yeah everytime I go out for a tuning session it just gets better and better to drive but I'm always watching the A/F gauge and making mental notes(or writing them down at stop lights) of when the car is too rich or lean in a certain rpm range. Then when I get some time to tune again I replicate that condition and fix it.
the car runs great now I'm just fine tuning it to keep my MPG up as well

oh I'll have to look around for that and adjust it

yeah I am datalogging and live tuning I'm just saying I'm I'm driving around without the lap top hooked up in closed loop I make notes, I just the maps pretty set up now I'm just fine tuning tiny things, the car is my DD so when I drive it around I just make notes
