Default VTEC Not Working? No CEL just a Stuck Speedometer Needle

I just installed a Short Ram Intake on my car. I just got the car 3 days ago. After installing it i went for a "spirited run" and noticed that my V-TEC crossover wasnt sounding..Its a Single cam i know but it has no exhaust only intake so if listening careful you should hear VTEC the only problem my car has is the needle for the speedometer is under the Stick that stops the needle from going any lower then 0. So the needle when the car is off drops way past 0 and as u start accelerating it starts traveling to 0 then stops because its under the stick thats supposed to stop it so does this stop my Vtec from working. My VSS sensor is good.

Maye some one with a little more Exp can confirm this but I read a few threads where people say V Tec wont kick in if the car isn't moving. The only way the ECU can tell is by the speedo. If the speedo isn't moving then I don't think the ECU knows it is so its not enabling V tec.
Hope this helps

you can try a new cluster if you're sure its not the VSS. who would've known that an intake install could wreak such havoc.

Ay Ivtec i didnt ask for your comment on installing an intake dick... Also NOOB you dont need to install a new cluster to bring the needle back around.....Jump off the bandwagon and post helpful information on the boards not some idiotic whoring post that has no help or solution whatsoever. anyone else have any idea if this small problem is affecting the VTEC? Remember the Speedometer works just cant go any higher because the previous owner must of never realized his speedometer was under the needle.

No need for rudeness boys!!

Why not just pull the needle back over the stopper and test it out? I read a few posts about the speedo not working causing vtec to not activate.
Hope this helps again!

on my B18CR The speedo stopped working and it go to the high cam. The speedsenor was not getting a good connection. It's a sensor on the back of your tranny(on a b-series anyway) I just put some dielectric grease on it and was good to go.
