widest tire???
I have an 89 Honda CRX and would like to fit wider tires. I have seen tires as big as 205-50-15. I would like to go with a 15 inch wheel but would like to go wider that 205. What could I do to fit bigger tires without going to extreme. Thanks Honda-tech!!!
I had 225/45/15 with no problems, well I had them squeezed on to 6" wide ls mesh wheels, So they were made slightly narrower. Most tire shops would not even attempt this though.

not too sure about that maybe 215.
what are you trying to hold hp wise? you could try a better compound i have the bfg's and they grab better that the old azenis i had of the same size.

No EF should have 17" wheels anyways...

I run 205-50-15 KDW's and they grip like crazy (BFGoodrich)

Current HP @ the wheels is 275. I would like to turn the boost up a little more. I want to stay with a 15 inch wheel. The more tire contact I can put down the better. Also, what offset wheel should I be looking at. Thanks again Honda-tech!!!
Let me guess, if you hold full throttle you spin first and after the shift to second if your in vtec your wheels come loose too?? You need bfg drag radials with those numbers. It’s all about the compound.

Even the new 615s are way understated in size:
205/50/15 Azenis 215s (left) | 225/45/15 Hankook RS-2 Z212 (right)
My point is tire widths arent consistent from brand to brand... the new Bridgestone RE-01Rs in 195/50/15 (available later this summer) are also around the size of 225s.

funny i tryed the bfg's in 225 and it wasn't going to happen. they were much bigger and wider than the falkens.

so overall, the width is the same, but the usable tread isn't. Depending on what you're using this car for, and how much experience you have with low-profile tires (they tend to BREAK traction without warning) you may be better off with the 205 Azenis.
Basically what you're looking at is a sidewall width difference.
