Default door and ignition keys.

i got my teg a few months ago, and ive just recently gotten curious. do integras have seprate keys for the doors and ignition? i do. does that mean my engine was swapped by the previous owner? and if so, where can i easily see the vin on the engine?

lol your car is suppose to come with 1 set of keys. that single key is to open the doors, trunk and ignition. if you have 2 keys, i would be lead to suspect that your car was previously stolen and a new ignition key switch was installed.

well the problem is.. the tranny was run dry, and blew a hole in the block.. JB welded shut, and now sounds horrible in first when rolling and not on the gas. the dealer i baught it from told me it was a 300$ throw out bearring job and i belived em.. last time i buy a car from the dirtiest city in the dirtiest part of dirty jersey.

(edit) and your talking about an 00 si. this is a 95 integra, not even a gsr, its an LS. a shop told me i need to replace the tranny and im gonna have to tell whoever i sell the car to if i wanna be able to sleep at night. honestly id be glad to get 2500 for this car.

(edit again) oh yeah... and the a/c doesnt work. cant forget that. i think the previous owner took the belt off for god knows what reason but didnt remove any of the a/c components... i really cant tell im no mechanic. anyone got a diagram of the a/c system showing everything i need to get it to work so maybe i can figure it out and at least get that running?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH... you have two different sets of keys and that leads you to think the engine was swapped?

Where does this logic come from?

Someone before you had it had the car stolen and cheaped out when they got a new ignition cylinder.

To fix:
take out the ignition cylinder and take the keys for the doors and the ignition cylinder itself to a lock smith and get him/her to recode it.

Take out door/trunk lock cylinders and get a locksmith to recode them to your ignition cylinder key.

P.S. bahbahahaha engine....

if you want to know what's what, if you take the title to a dealer, they will cut you a new key to what the factory one is, as for engine, don't know if that was stolen but more then likely what Rikter said was right the car was stolen and they probably just replaced the steering colum along with the key, and the doors locks are still factory...

your car was probably stolen at one point with the theives breaking the ignition. whoever repaired the car installed a new ignition instead of fixing the broken one. if it bothers you that much you can take the ignition or locks out of the doors and get them redone to fit the key of your choice; any locksmith should be able to do it.
