Options... Rotor to Hub Bolt
OK.. so it was supposed to be a quick job, replace the rotors and pads on my 98 civic. Well, sure enough, those little phillips head bolts holding the rotor to the hut stripped right out. In the process of trying to get them out, I ended up sheering two of them off (one on each hub, arg). So the rotors are now off, but the screw shafts are flush with the hub surface. I tried drilling holes and using those reverse thread extractors, all of which just snapped, plugging the hole... ARG!
So, I'm looking for options. Re-tap the hole and find a slightly larger bolt? Pull the hub off and replace it? (do I need to press the new one on?) I haven't picked up the service manual (first repair on this car), so not sure how big a job this is.
Any thoughs are appreciated... Thanks!

if you can grind them down so the rotor sits flush, then just leave the screws out.
they don't do anything because torquing the wheel down holds the rotors in place anyway.
in fact i think they're just there to keep things in place during the assembly of the car.
and next time post in the 92-00 civic forum

Thanks... Don't know how I missed the 92-00 civic forum, I even looked for one for 98s..
I was thinking they don't do much, and usually do end up with a couple extra bolts anyway, but being a brake part wanted to get it back together the way it was. They are flush, and I actually put one wheel back together to move the car in the drive... But, it's up for inspection so it may be an issue???

not sure about inspection. are they ********* about stuff in Maine?
i hear you on wanting to do the brakes the right way. brake system is the most important part of the car IMO.
i've been without those rotor screws for YEARS in several of my hondas with nary a problem.
