Default horn & SRS questions

Well, I purchased my ITR with a few more unexcepted problems. When I received it I didn't know it, but the yellow SRS clip was not plugged into the back of the gauge cluster. I plugged that in and went along my merry way. Well, the other day I took the steering wheel off to solve my horn not working problem and discovered the airbag wasn't plugged into anything. I started digging around under the steering column covers and found cut wires and a black plug. I'm assuming the black plug is for the horn, but what in the world does it plug into? The cut wire I'm assuming used to be the SRS plug. I've got to buy a new harness for the SRS, but I'd also like to figure out how to get the horn hooked up also.

Also, since the SRS isn't plugged in, shouldn't there be a light on the dash?

Yes, you should have an SRS light if it's not plugged in. Be quite careful f'ing with the SRS, as that ish can hit you hard enough to f0ck you up bad (or worse) if it goes off during service.

I trust you have the Helms, and are following the precautions for SRS service? When re-wiring, I suggest you do it with airbag off, then triple check everything, and test the pinouts with a multimeter when done, before putting the wheel back on.

Go through the complete Helms testing sequence, to be sure you don't have other problems also. Also jumper the test connector, and check to be sure you are not throwing any ECU codes, as certain things like the fail safe relay may (don't?) show up in the SRS light.

Kinda sounds like the SRS system was f'd with, and they pulled the cluster clip to shut off the SRS warning light. There used to be a big problem with theives taking the SRS unit out of the wheel and selling it, as they are very expensive. Then putting the facia back on the wheel, so you did not know the airbag unit was gone. Check to be sure there is a bulb in the SRS waring light socket in the cluster. If in doubt, take it to the dealer to have it checked. But be sure it is a trustworthy dealer. I am sure they would like to sell you a replacement airbag you don't need, for about $800.

Or just put in a JDM ITR wheel. That having been converted and removed could also easily be the reason things are wonky.

Well, the 2nd owner of the car put a JDM non-SRS wheel on it, so I'm guessing thats when the SRS harness was cut, although I don't know why. He could of just tucked it away. I'm gonna check the cluster tomorrow when its light outside.

For the horn, I've got the black plug through the wheel like it should, but I don't see where to plug it in. I know it plugs in next to where the red wires lead to, but I don't see something to plug it into.
